Most simply...

corporate edition doesn't have the same key protection as xp pro, but otherwise it's identical.

it's sold for bulk licensing and fast installation, meaning it doesn't ask for the pin code after installation like XP normally does.

So, you tell me which one is better. ;-)

*cough cough....

Same key protection? Define?

Pro and Corp are the exact same thing. The only difference is activation requirements with Microsoft.

Corporate editions are Professional versions of XP that use a different installation key because those keys' licenses don't require activation. Activation can change with hardware changes, and corporations don't have time to deal with having to reactivate 100's if not 1000's of PCs when they do a company wide upgrade.

A PC installed with the retail version of Pro, requires activation...and can retrigger that activation if too many hardware changes are made to the system. New vid cards, more memory, another hard drive, swap out your sound card....etc. It can become a serious headache for those that modify their systems on a constant basis.

I won't get into the specific differences between Retail, OEM, Corp or Upgrade XP Pro...but they are all the same Operating system. (in fact, it's only a single file that makes all the difference)

Installation of XP corp version requires it's 25 digit install key just as any other version...but during setup you will not get the window asking you if you wish to activate now, or when you get to your desktop you will not get the "You have 30 days to activate this PC" notice.
