Hey I made a backup copy of Armageddon. When I play the backup copy once in a while I see a little camera symbol at the top right of the screen. It doesnt come up when I play the original, only the backup copy. It come up about 2 to 3 times during the film and stays there for about 4 minutes. Any idea on what that is and how to make it go away? I used dvd rebuilder pro (cce basic encoder)to back it up. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

did you use movie only??

the camera icon is an indication that there is a different angle available most likely.

did you remove any angles?? try your players default settings instead of
a+b repeat,a+b, or similar try any option just giving you "a" setting your defaults is the easy way, some dvd players will not have the abbility to adjust your default's then the only way to address this is to leave menue's (if removed) or editing the pgc stream.

tinker w/ your players defaults and see if that fixes the issue.

did you edit anything??

as the commands telling your player how to react are usually embedded in the menue I guessed you had done away w/ it. check to make sure you do not have menu encoding enabled.

sometimes removing subtitles will have funny effects on movies w/ easter eggs so make sure it is the angle thing and not just different "hidden footage" try and select it w/ enter and tell us what it does.

further you can check eeggs.com to see if your title has eastereggs it's pretty decent database for such things.

This usually happens when PUOPs have been removed from the VOBs. What software did you use to make your rip? Some remove these without asking.

you are right jigen but most decent software these day's doesn't/shouldn't remove the prohibited user options w/out changing the settings I would be interested to hear what ripping software was used also?

I hope that someone has the correct answer. This has happened to me on a couple of occasions. I use DVDFab & Shrink then burn w/ Nero 6. On one movie I reburned it and did not have the issue. I know that it has to do with angles, however, when I change my settings I can not remove the camera from the screen.

Fab is one of those rippers that removes PUOPs without asking. Not even sure if you can leave them intact. DVD Decrypter is probably a better choice for this disc.

Only some of the newest discs give Decrypter any problems, and there are ways around those too. This is an older movie, so no need to worry about ARccOS.
A PUOP is Prohibited User OPeration. Know all those previews and junk you can't skip through on a commercial DVD? They use PUOPs to prevent you skipping through, and most times it's good to get rid of them.
