My first time backing up a DVD and i was hoping my only reason to post on this board would be to thank and comment on all the great guides...
But somthing went wrong *sigh* You see I did a ton of research before i even started and followed this great guidehttp://www.hiphopmusic.com/best_of_youtube/2006/02/how_to_downloa... thought the only thing it left out was to "insert DVD-rom in drive now" (lol)But as of a day ago I didnt know a single thing about backing up movies.
If you want to know what I did. That's it. I followed that guide perfectly and everything worked out smooth.I was just missing the smokes and wiskey that was suggested. Then i got to the end of the guide and it talked of setting book typing to auto and i thought crap! Why did the guide tell me to do it at the end? I was expecting it to auto do it already from the way the previous step talked of it.
I take it out the "Collateral" backup and put it,just to see, in my newer slim PS2(just so you know its not old) and it works just like the original DVD, got to the menu and it skipped...I thought "hmmm" I hit play anyways and it moved to play the movie like normal then froze. So i thought oh well at least the dvd in my living room will play it and its not a complete "coaster"(Idid think it wouldnt even read it if what i thought was the prob was the prob) I got into my living room, pop it in, and play it. It works beautifully. Quality is exactly like the original. I watch Tom Cruise walk down the hall and right when he opens his mouth I hear somebodies elses voice instead of his...i heard....Michael Mann???? lol anyways i go to settings turn commentary off and resume movie and it didnt turn off...i go and turn it off again and just went to main menu and started movie over again and still...his voice...i go back and play it in my comp and it plays just fine. But found somthing out. The THING IS...I went to set the book typing to auto to burn another and it ALREADY WAS.
Let me tell you some things anyone who has the time to help me may need to know. The burner I have is a SONY DRU-B1OA DVD+-R Dual layer, double layer. The media I used was Verbatim DVD+R DL(gah!expensive!expensive coaster!)The file I burned was a little over 6gigs because i didnt check DTS just Dolby but also had all the sliders 100% The one thing I noticed was this guide didn't use DL (DVD9) media. All of the software I used is up to date and legit and again I backupd the movie Collateral.
The computer im using to backup the DVD isnt connected to the internet so i dont really have the pictures of the process handy but the link i provided is exactly it anyways minus the DVD9 and i dont have the log handy since im on a different comp thats connected to the internet but i will do anything i have to do to get this working.Even if i have to burn the log onto one of my 9 DL DVDs left (j/k) I will really appreciate any help, feedback, tips whatsoever. I really thought this would be smooth sailing as long as used common sense.
You know what. It just dawned on me. It doesnt need to be set at automatic...it needs to be set at DVD-ROM to write it automatically *smacks his head* Ok no more caffeine. Im just going to sleep now. Goodnight. Disregard the post. lol. And thank you www.Afterdawn.com. forums for teaching me everything i know about this stuff in one day
