These logs are a bit long, but digging through can show some interesting things. Did you notice the part where it said Power Calibration Error? That could mean any of several things, including your burner is headen south. What's happening is that the system isn't reading the right power level for the burner drive. According to the log, your firmware version is up to date with version KY06. So that wouldn't be an issue. There's some other patches and fixes I don't know if you've checked out at Sony support. I don't know if they'd have anything to do with your problem or not. Since they're for your drive, you may want to check them out anyway. http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru800adwn.htm Poor connections to a bad cable on to a bad drive, just about anything that would effect the power will trigger this error. Some people have noted just cleaning the optical head will sometimes get rid of the error. That's an easy one. Use a cleaner disc or carefully dust it with canned air. If in a smokey area, use a swab and alcohol (gently) if possible. Cigarette smoke over a period of time leaves a sticky tar residue on everything inside a PC. Here's a setting change in the system that has been said to turn off the error:
1 on desktop click start
2 select control panel
3 click on administrative tools
4 click on services
5 browse your way down to IMAPI CD BURNING COM SERVICE
6 right click (on IMAPI) then select properties
7 in the middle of the window it will say start up type.click on the arrow to the right and select disabled.
8 make sure you click APPLY

I've not tried it so if it doesn't work, remember to restore your original setting. With IMAPI disabled the CD burner won't function, but the DVD may. Click on IMAPI CD BURNING COM SERVICE and read the description top left before continuing with step 6.

Then we get to the drive itself. The easy check is to switch out a drive you know to be good and see if it works in the system you're having problems with. If you have a cable, you might try that first.

As for your media, there may be a problem develop with the current brand you're using. It's the manufacturer (CMC) that gave Memorex the bad name. Normally Verbatim is good, but why go for the 16X. Most people don't burn video at more than 8X with a good burner and media.

Now you have a response and somewhere to start. Good luck. Let us know what you find.

Try another brand of disk, as these are not the best. Verbatim, Sony, Fuji or Maxell. Or if you are going to burn these then try it at 4x. Your drive is not liking these disks.

Strange business, it went from the power allocation error to a media error. Sort of hard to diagnose with the errors shifting. As Arniebear said, it looks like you need to go back to the good media. As for the logs, they gave 2 different errors.

Better to know what the errors are with the good media then with the bad. Those CMC Mags are giving you power calibration errors and that is not good, and can be caused by using cheap media. Also, try cleaning the lens on you burner, blow some canned air in on it.

I agree with Arniebear on that one.
