what is the issue's w/ the file that bug you??
there is small room for improvement using certain filters can actually improve the outlook of some movie files but if you are seeing huge blocks then its best to grin and bear it. dvdrebuilder will not handle the avi files only mpeg2 dvd compliant files. you would be turning to avitodvd or similar.

Filters may help the general quality of the backup. However, you can only do so much with a degraded source.
