Ok, so heres the deal, I was working on modding my PS2, I hadn't yet gotten the chip (a Duo 3) because I wanted to see if I could succesfully make all the solder points without any issues. Well anyways, I had succesfully soldered all the points and electrical taped all the ends and tested the system outside of the case and it all worked perfectly fine. I then decided since its going to be another week or two before I get my chip I would put my system back together and not have to deal with it sitting on my floor in pieces. When putting my system back together i accidentally got a screw through the power/reset ribbon cable. I was pissed, but i decided I would strip down the contacts in the ribbon cable and splice some wire in there to solder straight to the switch, everything seemed to be done right and I used a multimeter to make sure all the contacts were right, I hook it up and fire the system up and I got nothing, no lights, and both buttons do nothing, as if its not even on.
So from here, I borrow my freinds PS2 to test mine out with his ribbon cable and switches, once again the same deal, the lights dont even come on. I wasn't to happy but life goes on. I went to put my freinds back together and I hooked up his ribbon cable and switches. turn his on and nothing... Now I have 2 PS2's doing the same thing, the lights and switches dont work at all... somehow my PS2 screwed up his... Does anyone have any idea what sort of problem could be happening here? Oh, and btw, I looked at the fuses for both power supplies and they are fine, both power supplies are putting out 12 volts +/- .1 volts when the power is switched on, and both system were working fine before something got F*ed up with the switches. If anyone knows the circuitry that goes on with the switches and what could have shorted here let me know. And if anyone knows any pins I can short together to see if I can get the system to boot up let me know. And also (I know I'm asking alot) if anyone can multimetter some of the points coming off the ribbon cable when the system is in stand-by mode that would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance, troubleshooting this thing is anoying the hell out of me and I need some help. Thanks, Adun.
