I finally got around to hooking my DVD player up with a my component setup. When I do, though, the screen is all blue. If I diconnect the blue cable, it's just b/w. What's the reason for this? Any ideas?

Could it just be the cable or something else?

Have you changed your settings on the dvd player to the correct output mode?

Huh? I guess that would only make the most sense in the world, wouldn't it? :P

Thanks, I'll have to look at it tonight.

and just to clarify, I do get a picture. Meaning, I can watch the movie, but for whatever reason the picture is all blue. It's as if I get a blue signal and nothing else. But DVDs play fine otherwise. And if I switch the S-video input instead, everything looks perfect.

Yeah, using component cables, means you set your dvd player to Progressive scan. There may also be a setting in your tv's menus, for Progressive scan.

If everything is set right, and it's still blue, try another set of component cables. Maybe try another dvd player if other cables don't work. If after trying different cables, and different dvd player, it's still blue, you probably have a problem with the tv.

Good luck! Keep us posted?

This is not true. interlaced signals can also be transmited through component cables.(looks way better than s-video)

As for the blue screen, you may just have faulty cables. You may also want to make sure you didn't put blue cable where the green goes or vice versa. Good luck.

I've never heard of an interlaced signal going over component cables.
Oh well. Learn something new everyday.........

Turned out all I did have to do was set the video output on the DVD player to component as pazzini said. I had no idea I had to do that. Boy did I feel stupid :P

Thanks for all the suggestions :)
