Hello all, I purchased DVD cloner 3 and it's not working very well. It completes a burn, but then on playback it hangs up at the same time it decides to put up subtitles on the screen when I don't select subtitles to be displayed. Is this the software that people seem to hate on this board? Because I am confused someone calls it clone dvd 3, but mine says dvd cloner 3. Maybe they meant to say dvd cloner 3 in their thread I don't know, but it seems I have purchased crumby software regardless and would like to know the best one available to replace it. I am going to try to get a refund if you guys think dvd cloner 3 stinks as I only bought it one week ago. I want a software without too many steps to burn a dvd and if it's fast that is a plus, but obviously the main thing is for the copies to work ha.
My computer specs are not bad so I should be able to run most software. I have winxp home, a 3ghz P4 630, 2gb ram, 3 sata hd's the main drive is one of those 10,000rpm raptors, HP 630c dvd burner w/dual layer and lightscribe, sony dvd reader, 7800gt 256mb video card, audigy sound card, and so on so The system should be able to handle burning a dvd successfully. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Both Clone DVD 3 and DVD Cloner 3 are as I guess you can consider to be labeled as rogue/rip-off/misrepresenting software of other reputable software. For instance, there was a version of DVD Cloner that used parts of DVD Shrink and Clone DVD 3 is a rip-off of Clone DVD 2 that is produced by www.elby.ch and www.slysoft.com .... Both have been deemed to produce poor quality back-ups...

thugs121 thanks for the reply. I figured after reading around a bit in here that these programs were shady. I will see if I have any luck getting a refund.

I have some fujifilm dvd r+ 8x and some memorex dvd r + 16x, both have made good working copies on my burner with AnyDVD and CloneDVD, but some peeps here seem not to like memorex so I might stay away from it.

I've burned plenty of that Ritek R-03 media and it's all good. You should not have any problems with it. I burned mine at 4x and did not get a single Coaster. Playback is great.

I would stay away from the Memorex if I were you, nothing but trouble in my experience, if the Riteks work for you then great! Try some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and I promise you won't be disappointed!

Ok thanks guys for the info. I actually ordered some Taiyo Yuden because everyone gives them a thumbs up. I am not going to use the memorex any more, but the fuji's are coming out good so far so I will use them up too. They have the 25 packs of fuji's for 9.99 at my local music store, but I figured I would go with Taiyo Yuden's as they are supposed to be better and I don't want any troubles. Do you guys think I should burn at 4x because so far the ones I did at 8x have come out great? I don't even close down other apps like some people do and haven't had troubles since I started using AnyDVD and CloneDVD. I guess having 2 gb of ram makes it not so necessary to close down other apps while burning. I'm usually just browsing the web while the burn is happening not doing anything major. Well anyway I look forward to trying out the Taiyo Yuden's.

When I got my latest LiteOn burner and some test firmware for overspeeding, I tried burning at higher speeds 8X discs at 12x, etc. The results would play back fine but the Kprobe scans were pretty scary compared to 4X. So now I just stick with half the media's rated speed. May not be any difference as far as longevity goes but I figure better safe than sorry!

Ok thanks. Is kprobe a good program to use to check the quality of the disk? I don't have Nero to check with their disk checker.
