Im looking at buying a modchip, must be sodderless, easy install, do everything, must be able to buy from a reliable/credible site.
Edit: I used the Xbox scene test and it is a v1.6

you need to get the xecuter chip best out there!

go to http://modchip.com ---click xbox and look through the mod chips!

i recomend xecuter NOTE:DO NOT GET THE DUOX CHIP!

it is solderless!

I would recommend a SmartXX v3 chip its the most advanced on the market, and it is very well priced (49.99 for the Solder version $59.99 for the v1.6 Solderless version)

The X-changer is a Cheap mod like the duox or aladdin and I would not recommend it unless your an pro installer looking to save a buck.

They also stock the Xecuter chips, but those are really over rated. The smartXX chips do not get as much press as the xecuter and they are just built much better then the X3. They come with a 4MB Bios capacity(twice what the X3 has and 4x what the LITE has) and its own OS, comes with a cool usb adapter and much more.

that is ture, they are both excellent chips. I just find the Xecuters get so much press and attention people dont give the other chips like SmartXX a chance :(

As stated in your previous thread, I would recommend the XENIUM GOLD SP SOLDERLESS. Its universal solderless for all versions v1.0-v1.6B

Its the latest chip on the market, and to top it off its pretty cool looking :)

I'd appreciate a simple explanation on a few things.

First off, solder vs. solderless? I've read where a few say that soldering is more reliable, but others say that it doesn't matter. My thinking is that possibly a more advanced chip would work fine using only the pin adapter and that soldering extra wires isn't needed.

Next, the Aladdin XT chip. I bought it and am working on installing it. It's not really going well at this point, although I have not become completely frustrated yet. Am I better off scraping it and buying a more advanced (and hopefully easier install and setup) chip? Or can this thing do what I need it to do? I have a degree in programming, although I'm completely new to this xbox thing.

Finally, exactly how reliable are this mod chips? Once I have one setup properly, will it last? Or am I going to have to reflash it over and over again? I dabbled into the directv thing years back and found it to be more work than it was worth. It would be nice to modify the xbox, but if I'm going to have to continually update it then I would just as soon continue inserting the new disc each time I choose to play a different game.
