I just had my PS2 chipped with a MI GD and Subzero Laser fix and it refuses to boot any backups. Here's what happened:
1st Boot: I put in an official copy of The Godfather game to test if the PS2 atleast works. It boots up with the Matrix Team logo, PS2 logo with the Matrix logo under it etc. The game loads completely fine, I played it for about 5 minutes, no problems.
2nd Boot: I removed The Godfather from my PS2, placed in a backup which had worked back when I used SwapMagic and got the "Please insert a PS2..." error. No Matrix logo, nothing. It booted with the default PS2 logo and then went to the error afterwards.
3rd+ Boots:
Then I tried accessing the config menu by pressing the triangle and circle buttons, but got nothing. I don't know if I'm pressing them at the wrong time, but I've tried holding them at different times. Then I figured maybe it needed to be flashed. Pop in the 1.82 Firmware upgrade disc, reads it fine, loads and completes the upgrade. Still no change.
It boots PS2 and PS1 games fine. No long load times, everything seems to be working in tiptop shape, but it's not loading backups which I got the modchip installed for in the first place. The chip shouldn't be a fake, because I ordered it from Mod-Chip.com and the media I'm using is fine, as it booted up with SM. (Verbatim DVD-R with MCC coding and DVD+R TY's)Also to note, I don't have a memory card with me. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but because of that I don't have Infinity Manager.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I forgot to mention I have a V12 PS2 and that the Firmware Upgrade CD I burned boots multiple times fine.
Edit #2: I got both a PS2 DVD and CD backup to work. The only way I can get it to boot a backup or display the Matrix logo is to let the PS2 sit unused for atleast 30 minutes or more. Really weird.
Signature? What signature!? Oh wait...I actually have one
now.
