Picture #3) That may possibly be Sony16D1 or Ty-G03?
They all have different codes-on the top side of the disc. Use a disc identifying program like Nero infotool/dvdidentifier/dvd decrypter/dvdinfopro/etc to find Exact MID code.
Sony is like majority of brand named media. They outsource their media to different manufacturers. That's where you'll know who they are on their MID code.
Sony media is made in japan and taiwan for both formats and their 1x-4x/1x-8x/and 1x-16x speed media. They like to use the same MID code for a lot of their media, even if they were manufactured in different countries:
dash 1x-4x: Sony04D1- made in taiwan and austria
Plus 1x-8x: SonyD11 in taiwan,and Yuden000-T02 from japan
Dash 1x-8x: Sony08D1 from both taiwan and japan.Ty-go2 on some of those same japanese spindles.2 different MID codes, from the same Japanese spindles.
Dash 1x-16x: Both taiwan and japan may be Sony16d1.Slight chance of Ty-g03 in some of the japanese dash 1x-16x spindles, but not all of them.
Plus 1x-16x: SonyD21 for both japanese and taiwanese spindles.Yuden000-T03 should be available soon.
When you open those japanese spindles of sony up,look at the code that is on the writing side of the disc. It'll have a code like: GGxxxxxx or TGxxxxxx or similar. That's the code of genuine taiyo yuden media.2 letters-representing taiyo yuden, and 6 digits represent batch numbers.
Those are some great pics. That middle pic is awesome. Can you get the pics of the bottom of disc-the japanese 1x-16x disc, mainly around the inner hub-where the dye begins?
There is a space theory that seems to be true. You can't locate sony tys by going for Made in japan anymore. For the sony taiyo yudens, look for the white/octagon spacers on the top of the spindles. Those are the ones you want to pick up first.
The sony-non ty will have a gray/round spacer.Still pretty decent media, but not ty quality!
yup my full spindle is the white octagon one so your saying juts go ahead and use up the rest of the Twians and start looking for those btw my burner is a Sony DVD-+RW DL DRU 720A drive and for some odd reason it likes its own meduim the best go figure alot of my friends uses sony and they sayed no coasters here ive tryed i good amount of DVD-R and +R brands so far sony beats em all from what i used shy of my duel layers witch are verbatim DVD+R DL AzO i hope sony makes DLs that would be a plus
o ya the 3rd pic is the TY's any help with the nero dvd tool woudl be cool i wanna know how to get the cool little graph that everyone has on there dvd-/+r tests
The spacer theory works very well with sony dash format 1x-8x and 1x-16x.
Seems to be true in the plus format of those same speed. Getting harder to find those sony tys in the 1x-8x speed.
Fuji also has some media made by taiyo yuden. I'll have to keep an eye out and see if that spacer theory holds true for it.
Those graphs are pretty good. I scan my backups and try to burn accordingly to keep those backups as error free as possible.I was suprised at how many fewer pif errors I have on Verbatim MCC-004 when burned at 12x,as apposed to 4x. Those verbs perform better with the faster burn.
If you have nero:
Nero toolkit/nero cd-dvd speed/quality scan.
Run the scan at 4x-which I use the DVD-RW drive that burned it,to scan it.
Take a screen pic of the final graph/save it in jpeg/png format to your pictures folder/and download it to a host site like photobucket.com to post that pic.Copy that link to your pic/paste it into your post/add the image tags/and that's all she wrote.
There's a bunch of Benq scans in the Dvd +/- rw drives forum.
I'd bet those ty-g03's and Yuden000-T03 would look very good.
i got a site that has offical Ty's and they are relitivley cheap i think after i get some more money i will go ahead and start buying offical TYs and plus they are inkjet version thats always a plus
