Help please.

I tried doing a search but could not pare down the results that came back.

I have DL .AVI episodes of 24 that play perfectly on the computer. When I burn the episode to VCD with Nero it plays fine for a few minutes then starts to lag. I notice a pixelation of the screen before the sound begins to lag, by the end of the episode there is a full 4 second lag.

Is there something I can do to eliminate this lag?

BTW. I burn the .avi files to VCD (CD+R) via Nero and play back on Philips 642.

Downloaded videos often contain errors resulting in sync. problems during encoding. You may try check for and correct the errors with e.g. AviFixed before encoding. But be sure to back up the original video 'cos the process might sometimes backfire:

The problem is not that there is a sound synch issue. The problem is that the AVI starts out with audio and video in synch. 15 minutes in there is some pixelation and the sound lags by ~2 seconds. After another 15 minutes there is some more pixelation and another 2 second lag resulting in a ~4 second lag.

Is there something I can do like reencode the AVI to synch the file? If so what tool will I need?

I finally solved this annoying issue. I was burning the AVI to CD-R using Nero Express. This process (I was clueless at the time) re-encodes the AVI before burning to the media. This resulted in a VCD.

This step is entirely unnecessary as the Philips 642 can play DivX files. I burned the AVI as data (using Nero ROM)onto the CD-R, now no sound delay! Not only is it faster to burn but the picture is a lot cleaner.
