This should have been posted in the dvd +/- r media forum.
Those prices of dash format media are outrageous-even with free shipping! I seriously hope nobody pays those prices, big waste of doneros.
That is double the price that you'd pay at other sites like rima.com/supermediastore.com/and meritline.com.
For that price, I'll stick with my 30 cents apiece sony yudens/verbatim mitsubishi/Maxell hitachi.
$2 apiece for Verbatim DL media at Office max/Bestbuy/and Office depot.
HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

Just make sure you have the right equipment to back film up to these types of disc. I use Verbatim DL +R and would probably use SONY DL if they could be had as cheap. I think SONY has the most simple to use and complient optical drives on the market today. The Verbatim DL disc have a MAX 8x burn speed and I rencently discovered while using my SONY DRX-810UL external burner that it defaults to 8x when using DL disc. Now that's what I call up to speed.
They have since released a new series the SONY DRX-820UL which will burn to RAM media. I know many express discontent with Sony because of there contradictary pratices but, I see it this way. Yeah, they invented the "Root" and make time tuff with ARCCOS but they also make burning easy with some of the best media and optical drives on the block and found almost everywhere these items are sold at reasonable if not competitive prices.:P

.. Sony does not manufacture DVD drives ... as of late, they have been rebadging BenQ drives ... the 810 series are really BenQ DW1640 drives while the 820 series are BenQ DW1670 ... Sony gets 'em from BenQ and 'jacks up' the price ... If you like Sony drives, buy a BenQ .. save money and get a better utility package

@catfreak, This is all common knowledge and true of many electronic brand names i.e. Hitachi as Mitsubishi make a great deal of electronic components found in everything from TV's and DVD players to Automobiles. They also make their own brands of Automobiles and electronics though rarely found in the US (Hitachi).
BenQ is not a commonly found store bought brand in the US and it also serves again to compliment SONY for resourcing a top brand optical drive manufacture to produce their commonly found and highly rated DVD optical drives. These points are made by the likes of yourself and others as if SONY is stealing there drives from BENQ? Hey it's just business nothing personal. Some of SONY's otherwise shady ways of doing business in other areas does not take away from the satisfied customer experience.:P

Huh??
These points are made to show that Sony doesn't make any of their own products .. and that BenQ NOT Sony are producing the most simple to use and most compliant optical drives on the market today ... AND, they are even more competitively priced ...
