I backed up a movie using dvd shrink. It encoded fine. I checked the burned copy on my computer using PowerDvd DX and it played fine. When I tried playing on my DVD player it rolls. I've had this hapeen once before on a different movie. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

twig16-
I don't have enough information to go by. However, I can tell you that on a few occasions I had the same thing happen. I noticed that it was for one of two reasons.

1) My media was poor quality (poor brand of DVD's)
2) I was burning with Adobe. A poor burning engine can cause these problems. I suggest Nero if you are not using it.

Hopefully that helped.

The media I use are usually higher grade Memorex or HP. I burn my TS Video files with Sonic RecordNow. I have Nero on my computer but, have never used it. My DVD player is a new Panasonic. I can try Nero
but, hate to make additional Coaster, I plenty from the last time I had this problem.

Sonic Record Now is a poor burner. It renders the same affect as Adobe. Nero does the job for me. Let me know if you get another Coaster. Hopefully it will do the trick.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the help. I have the movie in two files, converted ISO and TS_Video (iso to ts-video using DVD Shrink) which should I use in Nero? To add to my stupidity which option do I use to burn a standard DVD in; DVD-ROM [iso], DVD-COPY,DVD-VIDEO,DVD-ROM[BOOT],
DVD-ROM[UDF] or DVD-ROM[UDF/ISO]?

In Nero I use DVD-Video mode. As far as selecting the folder. Well, when I shrink I name the folder by the name of the movie. I select that folder. Then I tell Nero to burn or fit to target and select DVD-5. Then on the next screen I tell Nero to burn in High quality mode, and set the speed to 2.4x. Some people burn at a faster speed, however, the faster you copy the bigger the chance for a mistake. Once you tell Nero to burn you should be able to view the material.

In a lot of cases what I do is run the movie I shank through DVDFab. The movie is then placed in the DVDFabDecrypter_Temp folder. I have learned that by doing this it eliminates a lot of headache from the burn process. If you are using Nero 6 then you should understand my brief explanation.

Let me know if you have any problems.

there is no such thing as a higher grade Memorex disc. They are C mags discs and not quality. Try Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens, or made in Japan Sonys.

The only thing I would say is to burn at 4x and GET RID of the memorex and HP disks. They are both very poor quality. Go with Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Sony.
Good luck!
