Hi,

Thanks for viewing this thread. Here is a brief overview of my problem.

Symptoms:
- Doesn't play back-ups
- Doesn't play DVD movies, even original copies.
- Doesn't boot up if it's on standby, have to turn it on and reset it
- Doesn't play Audio CD's
- Doesn't show the Matrix Infinity v1.4 sign under "Playstation 2"

The silver lining:
- I can still access the Matrix control panel
- I can still play original PS2 games.
- It can still turn on. Ahem.

Proposed problems:

Problem: Crap PS2 modder.
Answer: I'm going to smash his face in. Then I'll burn his house to the ground. Then I'll smash the rest of his body. I'll stop now. You still get the point right?

Problem: Laser thingymajig or chip is faulty.. or fake :O
Answer: I don't really want to rip open my PS2 and start ripping out wires or anything.. I don't trust myself with a solder (blame that on electronics) and i'm not really sure which thing is.. err.. which thing. If my chip is faulty, this problem and the problem above is solved. I presume it is fake, since the sticker I have on my PS2 shows a red chip, instead of a black one advertised on infinitymod.com.

Problem: Fake Chip
Answer: See above

Problem: It doesn't like me
Answer: I'll smash the power adapter, see how it likes that, then crack open the laser and presumably blind myself, then I'll just jump on it I guess, something more mean.. I could burn it..

Problem: Chip is broken
Answer: I'll threaten the guy to fix it

Here's how it happened:

Typical blame-it-on-the-friend story:

I was recently at a family camp, Yes, i'm 14. We were up late at 1am and my friend was being geeky on the PS2. Err. MY PS2. Anyway, I've been caught twice and I have one more chance until my car is impounded. He starts going crazy, and purposely gets me caught. I thankfully get to the reset button in time. It restarts, and says "Please insert a Playstation 2 disk" or rather. I'm thinking.. What the. My friends "assure" me that it's okay, so I reboot it. It still doesn't work. We go to sleep, and we wake up in the morning, and try it. It doesn't work. Panic Time. (a.k.a excuse time) "Ahh, I have to go brush my teeth! Ahh! I've got to go have breakfast! Ahh I think i left something in my dorm, gotta go!" Anyway, they all left me, and I am still puzzled by this problem. I took the liberty of looking at infinitymod.com to no avail. I have seen some threads and they say that the chip might have blown up or been fried. Could this be the cause? I don't think so, because I can still access the Matrix Control Panel. All the settings are the same as stock, but it still doesn't work. It also didn't boot up properly. If someone has the answer or has the same problem, please post shed some light on this topic. Thanks for reading and sorry if I have wasted your time.

Thanks in advance.
