Has anyone copied VHS tapes to DVDs using the subject device? I'm looking for some advice on the best way to do it as I have quite a few VHS tapes that I would like to put on DVDs.

SONY has a device (VRD-MC1) that is designed to do just that (and more). You still have to connect it to a VCR deck, but I don't know if it records in real time or if it's any easier and faster to use that than the DMR-E85H. I can't find an online manual for the VRD-MC1, so I don't know too much about it.

Would be nice if the SONY had a tape transport so it could *really* be standalone.
