I am having trouble burning Chronicles of Narnia and Dick and Jane.

For Dick and Jane I got the error message

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file "F:/"
Data error (cyclic Redundancy Check)

I read about this error message in a recent post also regarding Dick and Jane. I also received this once when I tried to burn Narnia.

I don't think the disks are dirty but maybe I should get another program beside DVD Shrink.

When I tried Narnia again using dvd shirnk it is working but the encoding process is going REALLY SLOW. The cursor for my mouse will change to a CD icon about every minute. This slow burning process has happened to me on some previous DVDs too. Then there will be other DVDs that burn fine. As of now DVD shrink is telling me to encode Narnia, which usually takes 2 minutes for me on most DVDs it going to take about 5 hours.

I'm thinking maybe the disk is bad or DVD shrink might have a hard time encoding it, not sure what causes this. Anyone have any ideas.

Chronicles of Narnia is a big movie. Dick & Jane isn't, but has 2 versions of the film on the DVD, so it is still about 8gig for the whole DVD. Try editing out stuff you don't want using Shrink's reauthor mode. I have 2 Gig of memory in my computer and it still can take 2+ hours for a really big DVD to encode on my system.

I'm pretty sure I had to use either DVD Fab and/or Vobblanker on both of these to get them to a file format Shrink would accept. Try ripping the DVD to your HD rather than going from the DVD direct through Shrink. It is better to risk having the ripper crash 75% of the way through in 5 minutes time than to have it crash 75% of the way through a 2 hour encoding process if the DVD is prone to read errors like cyclical redundancy ones.

Ok, I don't know anything about DVDFab or Voblanker but will go through the guide and give it a shot. Also I only got through 6% of encoding Narnia with shrink before it gave me the cylical redundency error.

The encoding process I am talking about is just the first preview scan DVD Shrink does before the enoding actually begins. This usually takes less than 2 minutes for me. I'll try the other suggestions on the guide and let you know how I make out.

Also the only program I have is DVD Shrink and see the walk through guide says if you have AnyDVD to disregard the walkthrough. Should I get AnyDVD and give that a try or just try using dvdfab and vobblanker?

Anydvd is great and will work every time, but isn't free. If you learn how to use the DVDFab decrypter and vobblanker combo, you'll be able to accomplish the same thing for free.

I use shrink and AnyDVD. I have yet to run into a movie they can't handle. Narnia took some time for me as well, but turned out great.
