can anyone get past this problem with the kernel memory? this is realy doing my head in! i might try to make a firmware that is like 1.5 only with the features of all the others without the hombrew blockers. if it is a version such as for instance, 12574.25 firmware version, future games that require ifrmware versions such as 2.7 will be no problem...

You seem very ambitious, but there arent many devs here, try posting at pspupdates or ps2dev..

P.S changing the update name to a higher level e.g 2.8 wont work because the update performs many other checks which make that update corrupt..

No it won't work as updates are encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption, which must be cracked if you want to modify the update and this is almost impossible (it is so effective its even used by the US government).

Anyway, the thread title is "FW2.00" so why dont you downgrade. There is a good guide here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-downgrade.php

You shouldn't do it that many times (as there is a limit on how many times a PSP's flash can be written to, and after that it will be bricked). I have downgraded (once), and as long as you get the software from a trusted site like http://www.psp-hacks.com , then there's nothing to worry about.
