I have dvd's that I want to make backups of, because my little kids are scratching the originals like crazy. I was wondering what anyone might recommend for doing something like this? Thank you all for the help.

I would suggest you use 2 free trial programs by slysoft, AnyDVD and CloneDVD2...both available for a 21 day trial.
AnyDVD will remove any copy protection while CloneDVD2 will back up your DVDs.

For a trial of these progs go to slysoft site.

DVDShrink is a good choice too. DVD Shrink will also let you compress the content so it fits on a single layer DVD.
You can also remove subtitles of languages you don't use to limit amount of compression required to fit your originals onto single layer DVD-Rs.

I use DVD Fab Decrypter and DVDShrink, they are both free. I have had all successful burns, except for one, which was a firmware problem with DL DVD-R and that was easily remmedied by a firmware upgrade.

what exactly are D-skins? Are they label that go over the DVD or is it like a coating of some sort that you polish on it and let dry? Thank you for the help and suggestion bro!!
