I'm a newbie looking for help with an Adobe Premiere problem.

Having done some online research for video editing software suitable for the basic editing of family videos recorded on a Canon PowerShot S21S, I opted for Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 (my computer is a recent Compaq Presario desktop with an Intel Pentium4 chip)

The adobe software loads OK, and I am able to view the host of still images that the Canon has taken, however when I try to import the AVI files created by the Canon, what appears to be the full video clip is loaded, but with no visible video. In other words the timeline is full and active with the audio track present, but the video track is blank.

These same AVI files can be viewed in both RealPlayer or MS Media so there is definitely an image there somewhere. I've also sent a brief sample AVI clip to the support guys at Adobe who say that, while my camera work will never threaten Speilberg, the video is visible on their system.

If anyone can come up with a suggestion as to what's going on, it would be much appreciated.
