I just installed a Matrix chip, and i copied Dragon Quest VIII, it works, but it takes about a minute for it to load up the game to the intro, then it takes another minute to load my saved game after the intro screen. Also, I can hear the laser skip and click frequently. My retail Dragon Quest VIII doesn't take this long to load, nor does it make skipping and clicking laser sounds. I copied using DVD Decrypter at 4x iso read/write and tried it on Verbatim (MCC) DVD+R and Memorex media DVD-R. Only the Verbatim is able to have an luck at loading something. Also, does booktyping have any effect on the discs for PS2?
Try burning slower, and also try Taiyo Yuden DVD-R, they are the best that you can get (there's a comparison of the medias somewhere in this forum, and you'll find Taiyo Yuden is rated at the very top)
i've tried the T.Y. and it's still not working (at all). i've checked the soldering points twice and used a multitester. should i exchange it for a DMS4?
I've tried Killzone, none of the copies on different blank media work. I upgraded to firmware version 1.82 from infinity's site, using a CD i burned; it took about 3 minutes of laser skipping and clicking to load. yeah, they didn't let me return the chip because exactly what you said.
ok, I think i blew the fuse for the fan. I think I'll try and sell it, anyone know how much it should be worth? It still plays ps2 games. it's just opened and the fan isn't working.
I guess try ebay, with a bit of luck you can still get a good price out of it. Although if its just the fuse, why don't you just replace the fuse, which doesn't cost very much at all... what version is the PS2?
thanks to your reply, i went back to do more research on fixing the fan -- to solder it to a 5v and ground area on the mobo. i haven't tried yet, but soon. now what's left is booting back-ups.
