hi guys please help me with this!
I've noticed that more and more people lately have been having problems booting their computers with XP... is this all coincidence or is there some kind of bad software update MS is sending out?

anyway,
everytime I start the computer it goes to the MS windows logo, then flashes a blue screen and restarts... This happened a few weeks ago and I formatted my drive, and reinstalled the bare minimum of software... was working, and now its doing it again... I'm currently on Safemode with networking...

so i've tried using MSCONFIG to prevent startup of system services/startup files/win.ini/system.ini... all together, separately etc... still doesnt work... I cant see the exact error message because it flashes away too quickly, and I tried the steps i read in other posts to try and force it to prevent restart on the BSOD but it flashes and restarts anyway... what can i do? do I need to format and reinstall all over again?

note: same problem is happening on my other computer too, but its not very frequent and it still works most of the time...

any help would be appreciated before I start formatting again :(

thanks

ok i busted out my camcorder LOL and after some work was able to figure out the error message... aside from the microsoft BS the error code is basically this:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

tech information:
*** STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000000,0X00000002,0X00000000,0X00000000)

any ideas?

ok i uninstalled a majority of my hardware (video card, modem, sound card, etc) and rebooted... now it seems to be working fine, so apparently one of the latest updates i installed created a conflict and is resolved now... thanks anyway

Glad ya got it back up and running...sorry we couldn't jump in here on time.

However, we may still be able to help. Post back what hardware you are running, what driver version you installed or tried to...and maybe we could recommend more stable drivers.

thanks morph appreciate it! actually I dont want to install any updated hardware, the problem was just accidental... but, as i said i am having a similar problem on my other computer

I have a VAIO desktop 2.8 Ghz intel, 512MB ddr 333 ram, 128 MB Ati radeon 9600XT, etc.

so for some reason, just randomly my computer restarts... it would be sitting there (my computer is on most of the time), and with or without me using it, somehow it would reboot... i dont understand it... it doesnt crash, or give me a blue screen, it just restarts... any fixes for this?
All of my settings are exactly as I got them from sony, aside from some software installs, and my USB wireless network adapter...
