Does anyone here know if a non-modded PS2 Slim still need a laser fix? It is a v12 #SCPH-30011. A fix that will limit current going to the laser? I had to replace the laser previously because I think this is what happened. It couldn't read DVDs, but read CDs fine. I am planning to buy a new laser though, and I use the Swap Magic 3.6 method, which is basically a soft-mod, but do I still need a laser fix on a non-modded ps2 slim? If so, which is the best fix? And once I install the fix, how do I know if it is working and is doing it's job?

Thanks.

it surely would not hurt to get one installed.
They are only around $10
Comsoft V4 fix is a good one.

It is a laser fix that was in my V12 when i bought it premodded with a DMS4 Pro.
most GOOD places that install chips or sell premodded systems will put in a laser fix with the V12 for little or no cost.

Would it be harmful to install the comsoft fix v4 on a non-modded v12?

it would not hurt to install one on an unmodded system.

The Modbo chips are cheap clones, buy it if you want but it is not one i would ever suggest to anyone.
DMS4 Pro, Matrix Infinity, Crystal Chip

The Modbo team have up to 2.1 only. Modbo 3.0 is definitely fake.

the chip doesnt have built-in laser fix, and i recommend comsoft too, whether or not the ps2 is modded.
