As the topic says, how do you know if your laser has burned out? This is for a Slim V12.

You'll need to open up the PS2 to see that, apart from that, you'll know your laser is probably at the end of its life when it doesn't read discs anymore

lol yeah , but im kinda sure that hel know when tht famous "disc Read Error" screen appears. I think your question is intresting ,as iv never seen such answer lol when i started using back ups with swap magic i had to burn at 1x now 1x makes the game run too slow i have to now burn at 2x i dont know if this is for the worst or the good. id also like to see this question get answered

I had a PS2 that did that. For starters it wouldn't even recognize a disc. it saw the hdd, which sucked because I could't use HDadvance. So I got another PS2 for $50 and switched out the HDD. It's cheaper than sending it out to Sony, who charges $75 plus shipping.

yeah my old ps2 had this happen... it just wont read discs anymore... I took it apart and cleaned the laser and it worked.... but I messed up other stuff in the process... lol

but I still fixed the original problem haha
