Okay so I'm consider buying a new PSP next week. After reading through various threads I've come to the understanding that I well at the very least need to buy one with Firmware 2.0 ready. Does anyone have a idea if some of the newer units still have 2.0 on them? Or are all new units being shipped with 2.6 and up? I'm sure they update the new units but I was just curious.. I'm hoping that when I go to GameStop or EB I can get a used one with 1.50 or 2.0 ready.. Hopefully just asking the person at the store they can be kind enough to help me out..

I placed an order of brand new psp v2.0 from japan Then downgrade... No way buying used as most users tend to have their psp with scratches haha bit of fussy.. If interested u have to find ur supplier to get u one.. V1.5 is still available as brand new in jpn though..

At this time now, it is unlikely to find a brand new psp in the retail shops that are 1.50, but you will be able to buy it on ebay for a cheaper price! :)

The only thing you have to be careful is that you can not play US UMD movies on a japan version psp.

i bought a 1.5 about 3 months ago brand new in the store.

check that and call around stores asking them to check for
"any letter F or below under the 120v text on the right bar code"
i found a target that had like 10, but i bought 5 and all had dead pixels, then found a store that had one.. got it and its been perfect ever since.

i bought 2 FW1.5's from Shopko/Pamida stores, both of them were fine, 1 has since been upgraded to 2.0 but the other is staying at 1.5

they've got like 6 left i think? and they're all 1.5's

nice when smaller chains don't order new stock till they're all gone. :-) oh and i bought one, like a month ago, and the other 3 months ago.
