Been using swap magic and playing nothing but backups for the last few months. All of a sudden my swap magic dvd stopped working..it would get past the playstation 2 logo splash screen and then just sit there, never getting to the load game screen...so i got a new swap magic disc. worked great for like 2 days, now im hosed.
I start it up, and the ps2 goes right to the screen that shows the memory cards and a ps2 disc, it wont get to the playstation 2 logo now, just goes right here. Ive tried everything, cleaning hte lens...am i screwed? the swap magic cd loads up just fine! normal ps2 games load up and play fine! helpppp!! is there a way to "fix" the lens so i dont have to buy another ps2??
just double checked,,,swap magic cd..both of em, load fine..my swap magic dvds..both go right to menu with memory cards and the ps2 dvd...but i cant run it, wtf!
Quote:so whats the best way to scam wal mart? buy a new one, switch out the guts and take it back for a refund? i cant fork out 130 bucks so easy
Getting a job would help :)
Just buy a laser, its much cheaper than getting a PS2 console, and if you open up the PS2 to take out the laser, it'll void the warranty and I doubt walmart will let you refund it after you've done that.
thanks, but i heard lasers are $100..the ps2 is $130. i got a damn good job, im practical tho, and i just cant see forkin out $130 for my 3rd ps2 in 4 years....thanks for the help..
so i take it that swap magic burns out lasers? at least faster than theyd normally wear out, is that a correct statement? i may go with the modchip if its easier on the laser
Not really, how fast your laser burns out depends on the media you use for games, the higher the quality the media, the easier (in general) it is for the laser to read, and therefore does less work, and it will last longer
And lasers shouldn't be $100? I mean I can get one in New Zealand for about $70 installed, and that's under $50 US...
