I'm trying to FTP into my HDD.

Here's what I've got...
- modchip installed (can be put into sleep mode: turned off)
- Network Adapter
- 80GB Maxtor hdd
- Router running a long ethernet cable to my PS2. Works fine for my XBOX. All hardware is operating fine.

I can't get the setup disc that came with my network adapter to let me establish a connection. Also, I can't get my PC to recognize the PS2 no matter what I do with flashFXP or WinHIIP although I can't really say that I know how to use the second program.

All I want to do is be able to FTP image files to my PS2 hdd to save my laser the work of doing it through HDLoader.

Can you please help? I feel like this should be an easy connection and I can't really understand why I can't get it to work.

Make sure your network adapter is connected properly (straight through if using a switch/router or a cross connect cable if plugging your PS2 directly into your PC). This is critical because if it's not, the network adapter won't initialize properly before the next step.

Use ExecFTP on your PS2 to turn your PS2 into an FTP server then change the IP address on your PC to make sure you're on the same subnet (ExecFTP assigns your PS2 the IP address of 192.168.0.10). Use FlashFXP to connect and you should be all set.

"Use ExecFTP on your PS2"

I don't understand. How do I get ExecFTP on my PS2?

Thank you. I appreciate all the help.

Can someone clear up the confusion I have about needing memory card exploits? Am I right in assuming those are just for people without modchips?

Depending on your modchip, that is correct.
