I am just about to buy a network adaptor for my PS2 and I wanted to know if I can use my PS2 without connecting with my p.c. I have been told that if I use a router I can use both but I wont be going on both at the same time, I have looked at prices for a router and the cheapest I can find is £50 which is one that I was told that I should use as I am with AOL and they told me that I can only use certain routers with them only problem is I dont want to spend nearly £100 just to play games online. I heard something about a crossover cable can I use this to go onilne with my PS2? PLEASE HELP!!!! I dont want to buy a network adaptor for my PS2 if im going to spend nearly £100 to play the games, I know it woul be woth it in the long run but I cant afford that sort of price for something so simple

What type of internet connection do you have? You stated AOL which leads me to think dialup.

If you have dialup through your PC, then you'll just need a crossover cable to connect the 2 devices (and enable network bridging under XP) and you'll be all set.

Oh, so all you'll have to do is unplug the network cable from your PC and plug it into your PS2 and make sure your PS2 is setup for DHCP.

What Petey said IS CORRECT.
The only downfall is that only either your pc
OR your ps2 can be connected to the internet at one time,
But you wont need anything else to do this method.
Simply unplug your ethernet cable from the PC,
Plug into the ps2 and run the network adapter software,
And you are done.

thanx 4 that the only problem is that AOL are saying that I may only use a certain modem which will cost me around £80 from them and the cheapest I can find that they said I needed is about £50-£60 which I cant afford, but I will try your idea when I get the network adaptor soon. many thanx 4 the help.

also if anyone is from the UK if you are looking for cheap stuff for your p.c. visit www.novatech.com that is the cheapest site I have been on for all your p.c. supply's they sell almost everything for a p.c.
