laddyboy told me to post some information here with my problem:

I used DVD Shrink like I have been and never had a problem. The whole movie encodes and everything...when it burns with nero it stops and tells me theres a problem and it burned unsuccesfully. I tried to burn it manually with the files and it got to about 90% and stopped again. I dont know of any other programs but i tried Any DVD and Clone DVD which i was reading about from this forum, and that didnt work either. Im not quite sure what to do any help would be appreciated.

What version of Nero and DVD Shrink are you using, what kind of media are you using, what type of burner are you using, can you post an error log, have you updated your firmware, etc...?
Answering most of these questions should give us more info to work with, especially an error log and the program version info. Get some or all (would be better) and we will be better able to assist you.

The first things that I will point out might seem simple.

*You are using 8X media and burning at 8X.

This is not recommended and will cause a large part of the errors with writing.

*You are using 75% of your memory.

If anything else is running that doesn't need to be, I would recommend stopping it.

Error Reading Data
If you are burning from an outside disk as your source, it is having a problem getting the information. If you are using your hard drive as the source, it could once again be taking to long to access it as your avaliable memory is small.

Suggestion:
Try burning at 4X instead of 8X, try closing any programs that don't need to be running at the time, and if you are burning from an outside disk, make sure it is cleaned very well, However, I assume the video files are on your hard drive. Try copying them to another folder and see if you get an error. If you do, the file is corrupted. If you don't, try burning from the location you copied it to.

Also you could try doing this first:
Decrypt the disk to your hard drive using DVD Fab, and run the files through VOBBLANKER, then use shrink with the above steps.

this is hardly enough memory to run your system, let alone burn a dvd
close down ALL unnesecery programs whilst backing up & do not multitask whilst backing up.

tdk is not one of the best media brands, try a better brand (TY, Verbatim, sony (made in japan), or equivelent as this may also be adding to the problem.

to check memory usage open task manager (CTRL - ALT - DEL) & select performance tab.

if you have things like anti virus / antispyware running then close all that while you burn.

i know microsoft anti-spyware uses a lot of memory so i always make sure i close it down.

if youlook in the bottom right of your task bar it will show all the programs that are running, close down anything that is not needed while you burn.
i hope this helps

Surf on over to here and get your self a firmware update;
http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GSA4080N

Look for this area and click on the link that matches your drive, for examlpe: 0G03 GWA (Gateway/eMachines) Windows

LG HL-DT-ST GSA-4080N (GWA/GMA/GCA)
Auto Reset and RPC1 Firmwares based on 0N22 GSA (NEC) Windows, 0N23 GSA (NEC) Windows, 0N37 GMA (NEC) Windows, 0C09 GWA (HP/Compaq) Windows, 0C12 GWA (HP/Compaq) Windows, 0C35 GCA (HP/Compaq) Windows, 0W33 GCA (Fujitsu/Siemens) Windows, 0S35 GMA (SONY) Windows, 0G03 GWA (Gateway/eMachines) Windows, 0X21 GSA (IBM) Windows, 0H09 GSA (Acer) Windows, 0H37 GMA (Acer) Windows, and 0K03 GSA (LG) Windows.

Your log shows that the burner is unable to correctly identify the media you're using (notice the change in write speed in the log),

look here:
Data in Burst Cutting Area (BCA) does not exist
Media Specific:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
02 FE 10 00 02 FF A0 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

The media specific field is empty when it should reflect info about the media you're using.

So try a firmware update and see if it corrects the problem, you should also consider changing to another brand like verbatim.

As suggested, try and free up some ram to help ensure that there is plenty required for this process to be successful.

atl1011,

If you've tried updating the firmware and tried using different media along with all other suggestions, but still having problems, I'm guessing that one possibility is there maybe something wrong with the burner??? If the burner is old, you should consider purchasing a new one, lot of good ones out there and most a pretty cheap.

Another possible cause, Looking at this error:
10:06:36 PM #24 TRANSFER -25 File Reader.cpp, Line 351
Error reading Data

This could indicate that there is a problem with the transfer of data from the HDD to the burner and then to the media. Make sure all cable connections are secure (HDD, burner, DVD-ROM drive etc.), also check to make sure all of your devices a set to operate in DMA mode

Here's a guide;
How to enable DMA for IDE controllers
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm
or
http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

If all seems ok after checking all the above, you might want to consider a problem/issue with the HDD, make sure you still have plenty of space available on it, defrag it, also try and perform a disk check on the HDD using the utility that's part of windows XP.
