Im sorry for my stupidness here but most of this stuff you are saying makes no sense to me so if you can help i need it in lamens terms! I have a xbox softmod and accidently wiped my harddrive therefore no dashboard and error 16. I have a friend with a modified xbox but no idea if it is softmod or what?

Any help would be muchly appreciated!! thanks

well error 16 means that the xbox cannot set the clock. if the white microsoft shows up at the bottom then you can use hotswap to restore all of your files. however, if microsoft does not show up then you cannot. if you backed up your eeprom onto your computer, then you can unlock it and put all the files back on there. if you didnt back it up and microsoft doesnt show up, then the only other way to fix it is with a modchip.

not completley true i did the same thing if you can get a copy of any of the modding discs u can reinstall it i developed a lil trick works best with splinter cell you make a profile one any one name "buubba Z" then make a disc that has a exploit on it and name the exploit folder (unzipped) jigsaw then take a close pin open the xbox drive through the front

once open put in the exploit disc then close wait for spin up launch the profile hten it brings to soft mod menu (it works if that not work i can make you a special file that can fix ur box)
