Alright, so I installed everything alright I guess but when I put in my cd, close the lid, and load it up the cd seems to just jump out and it wont spin or be read. I tried screwing it tighter and loose and inbetween I used the guide that I found on the site I bought the fliptop from.

Thnx.

Does the swap magic disc load OK or is the disc your referrring to as jumping out the Swap magic disc?

It was any disc I put in there including the swap magic disc. Anyways I broke my reset cable so I'm either going to get one from my friend or order a broke ps2 to get the cable. Waste of money :[. Is there any other way to reset the ps2 besides using the cable?

^ I ordered myself another cable ^

Alright, I didn't want to start a new thread and spam so hopefully someone will read this.

My problem began with the disc jumping out when I would close the tray. When I tried running it without a disc, it would only spin 3 times. Then i tried this: I put in the cd, and taped it in the center to http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/812/imag00708ws.jpg with the cover of it on of course. When I did that, it would spin 3 times, then speed up fully like it was actually working until it said it couldn't read the disc.

So.. it could be my laser I guess or it could be the fact that it's taped, I'd test it but the cd just jumps out so I can't.

Any help is appreciated, thnx.

Sounds to me like you didn't install the white magnetic spindle disc that you remove from the parts you take out of the PS2 into the fliptop lid. w/o that in, your discs are not held in place!

Divineo calls it a "Disc Nip" http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/zz-ps2-dnip))

From what your saying it sounds like your trying to put a disc onto an already spinning spindle. Is this right? How can a disc jump out if the flip top is closed?

Well I put in the cd right. Then it starts spinning, a second later I can hear the disc just like falling off the spindle.

One possibilty: you're not putting the disc in there right... There's a small tab of plastic near the back of the mechanism. your disc must be under that tab... if It's on top of the tab, the disc is not in right... will not spin freely and could be damaged.

Another thing to try: loosen the screws holding the fliptop on the case a bit.

You can also just not install the disc nip in the flip top and just leave the lid open. Manually put the disc nip on top of the spindle and see if it holds your disc in place. If it does not, then you've probably demagnetized it somehow.

I did that procedure above for a while myself until I got the screws and whatnot adjusted on my flip top to make everything work right.
