Bill won! thanks guys, you kick ass.
I realize there are alot of bands out there with that dark style that have loads of talent, those are not the ones i'm talking about. if you are in the music scene than you know as well as i do how you can more or less look at a pic of a band and kinda tell the direction they are headed. some are into it for nothing more than the glam and the bullshit. on the other hand take the revenrend manson for example, the man started with long hair, no makeup, and it was about the music. sure the early spooky kids shows were "glamish" but the thing is, no one except for alice cooper had ever done that shit before. he evolved into what he is today and has been over the years, but he started out as a musician. he's earned his right to be what he is now. the major disappointment are the bands that just pop up in makeup with a fog machine and think thats all it takes. makeup and kooky fake blood does not make a band. people should be able to come to a bands show and literally turn their backs to the stage and still have a good time. it's about the music. look at all the glam fag bands of the 80's, all the hairspray and makeup, so many bands that had no business being a band expect for thay all shopped at the same womens clothing stores. fads do not make people rock. In the immortal words of Mr. John Lee Hooker, "one night i was laying down, and i heard papa tell mama, let that boy boogie woogie, because it's in him, and it's got to come out."
all the goth/glam/whatever bands should try an experiment, get all they're fans together and do a normal show, then the next night have all the same people back but do the show without the makeup and effects and junk, hell do it in the dark. then just talk to the fans and see what they think. hell do comment cards like at fast food places. if a band really cares about its music they'd be more worried about that than if their hair is right or if there's enough black eyeliner to go around to night.
Edit: and yeah i've read some stuff on your band, i'm just north of indianapolis, cant remember where but i read it, might have checked out the sight or something a while back. if you're in it for the music, then i applaud you. if not then hey, enjoy what you have while you got it i guess, you're in the 1% of bands that actually get some notice.
