I recently bought 3 spindles of Verbatim discs from Staples in Canada. I bought 2 DVD-R and one DVD+R. The +R and one of the -R discs are just regular Verbatims and the other as a little silver sticker that says Advanced AZO. The last one is a 16X and the other two (without the little sticker) ar 8X. What besides is the differnce between two types of discs? The ones with the sticker and the ones without it.....

Sorry my speeling stinks math is my subject not spelling :)

If so could I hear from everyone but esp. Alkohol, creaky, kivory 666, teflonmyk and the lady with blinking dog in her sig, these are the people who helped me the most with all the advice to others. I had so many fallers for like a year and finally learned because of all of you so one more if you all please :)

I believe that all verbatims have the Advanced AZO dye to keep the disc from deterioating and to have good quality burns.

Hi AlBundy!
You should be fine with all the Verbatims you purchased.
The discs should id as MCC. Azo dye is used in all MCC codes from Verbatim.
Now the difference between being advertised as advanced azo dye well let's see if docTY can lend a hand there.

editted to add:
Glad our posts helped you out!!

did i detect my name being mentioned? my radar is on again...tis the fair binkie calling...

:)

@AlBundy

glad that we have helped you in the past, whether it be directly or indirectly, the important thing is that you've learned a thing or two and gotten past the issues you were having...

in terms of the "little sticker" on the 16x Verbs, it's just a "marketing gimmick"...as binkie stated earlier, the MCC coded Verbatims all utilize the AZO dye (which is a very high quality formulation that Verbatim is very proud of...you might have heard them refer to it as "advanced azo," "metal azo," or even a combination of "advanced metal azo" )they all basically mean the same thing, this is for example, taken directly from the description of the 16x DVD+R Verbatim media from Verbatim.com

Advanced AZO recording dye optimizes read/write performance
Product Number : 95098
Capacity/Speed : 4.7GB/16X

regardless of the 8x or 16x speed in either format that you just purchased, they BOTH utilize the "advanced AZO" dye, which coincidentally, is very similar to the AZO formulation that Taiyo Yuden uses as well~ :) in simple terms, "it's good stuff" :)

no worries AlBundy, you got some quality media there in Canada under the Verbatim label...just make sure ur firmware is up-to-date for your particular drive and you should have no problems burning onto them (i burn both my 8x DVD+R MCC003 & 16x DVD+R MCC004 @8x, but that's just me, use whichever speed YOU personally feel comfortable with if you feel 8x is "too fast" for you, but if you happen to be using a Benq drive, i would HIGHLY recommend you burn those Verbatim @8x and nothing slower...Benqs in particular LOVE burning at faster speeds on quality media, such as the one you have there with the Verbatims) :)

good luck~

docTY~

Yes you can. Propably not with MCC coded ones, but try some pearl white CMCs - got some horrible results with those.

Very true. The pearl whites were crap. They have been outsorced to ritek now and should be much better. I would still stay away from the pearl whites as there's bound to be some made by cmc mag still floating around. You can't go wrong with the misubishi chemical corp verbatim's.
