can anybody tell me what is the difference between model 39001 and 30001? Also can they both use HD Advance with magic 3.6? or should i get a mod chip installed and if so whic chip so i can play all media and go online?

Theres no noticable differences in these models. Any fat ps2 will work with Swap Magic 3.6 to load Hdadvance. A chip is a good idea for ease of use, for hdd users its good to get a DMS4 pro which has its own more updated hdloader that works with nearly all games off the HDD (original programer for hdloader started working for DMS team). Hdadvance games cant play online. With the chip/swapmagic you can.
