I have made backup copies for the last 18 months with out a major problem.
I used XP SP1
I/O Magic DVD Drive
DVD Decryptor
Nero 6.00
Dvd Shrink

Two weeks ago, my power supply had problem so I changed my power supply, and formatted my HD and installed SP2. Since then, I could not burn a single DVD. Isnt it strange.

My nero 6.00 has compatibility issues with SP2, I downloaded 6.6.14 I downloaded DVD Decryptor 3.5. DVD shrink 3.2.
Since Nero 6.6.14 have problem in working with Shrink, I decided to try DVD Decryptor to burn the DVD, with DVD Shrink, I still could not get around it. I create an ISO file with DVD Decryptor, then I use DVD Shrink to shrink the file, then I burn with DVD DEcryptor

I get the following error message:

I/O Error!

Device:[1:0:0] ATAPI DVD DD 2X16X4X16 G7G9 (F:) (ATA)
ScsiStatus:0x02

I have been trying for the last 2 weeks to figure out , what happened , why it is not working?

Can any one help me?

hi
nero 6.6.1.4 has bugs in it & causes problems when trying to burning
Uninstall Nero - run the clean tool - then install version 6.6.0.18

heres a link for nero 6.6.0.18:

Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Here's the clean tool:

I was helping out another member in the Nero room with that same code in their Nero burn log. That's a Benq 1620 Pro drive. Both of you have near identical issues with your drives. Benq drives highly favor the plus format.these drives will booktype the plus format to dvd-rom.They should burn anything you slap in them, unless their firmware isn't programed to burn them properly.

G7G9 is a very old firmware.

G7V9 is the latest, for the Benq 1620 Pro drive.

I/O magic outsources their drives. Benq/Empa/and BTC are just a few that made their 16x writers. Yours is the first I/O Magic 16x writer that I saw that had the Pro drive.I have an I/O Magic 16x that's actually the Benq 1620 bulk. The Bulk series has the B series of fw like B7V9,so I use benqs main site to update it. You may have to do the same:

http://www.benq.us/ServiceAndSupport/Drivers/drivers.cfm?product=738

Did you change anything about your media since the power supply replacement? Like different format/different brand name/or even a different pack of the same exact brand name?

What is the brand name/speedrate/and format of your blank media?

My original I/O benq 1620 is still going strong after around 3500 burns. It loves the plus format of maxell/sony/verbatim/and taiyo yuden.Preferable those brand names in at least the 8x speed rating.

Hi thank you for taking time to answer my question. Yes you are right, I started using a brand new DVD +R 8X brand name PLAYO.

I went to benq site and downloaded b7v9 firmware and upgraded it.

I open dvd decryptor, i get the same error message :

I/O Error!

Device:[1:0:0] ATAPI DVD DD 2X16X4X16 G7V9 (F:) (ATA)
ScsiStatus:0x02
Interpretatoion: Check Condition

CDB:28 00 00 39 AD F5 00 00 01 00

Does it mean I updated a wrong firmware :

I found I/O magic site for firmware down load
http://www.iomagic.com/Firmware/FirmwareDownload.html

In this page there are two identical drives the last two drives on this page 1620 and 1620 A, I dont know which one is mine.

Also, I dont know, since I already updated to G7V9, can i try G7Z9 again.

Can you please help!

Thanks in advance!

I tried to open the disc with DVD Shrink ! oh man, I get this error message :

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue

Failed to read the file "F:\"

The Parameter is incorrect!

DVD Decryptor is also giving me an error and DVD Shrink also giving an error.

Do I have any hope?

Rashmu: In that link for I/O magic, the top 1620 is the bulk, and lower one-1620A is the retail. You've got that retail. You may want to try upgrading to the G7Z9 fw. Those fw updates are way off compared to benq's fw updates. Benq doesn't even have a Z upgrade that I am aware of.

What was the name of that disc that DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter gave you that error?

Can you try ripping an older dvd that you already have?

Will that drive read a dvd?

Thank you so much again for helping me. Here is the answers:

1. The dvd's I was using Hi a brand new DVD +R 8X brand name PLAYO.

2. I am going to get a new DVD Verbatim or some standarad DVD + and see if it helps.

3. I alrady updated the firmware to g7v9 from benq web site. Should I try the I/O Magic site firm ware or no need to to try?

We are going on a long trip in three days, I really have to back up all my kids dvd's I dont want to take the originals. I am little bit panicking becuase I have been doing this for almost 2 years, I never had a problem. IT was so routine, as you said, I slap the dvd's in, and copied this is the first time I am having problems. I will try my best to fix it asasp with your help

Hey guys, just passing thru, hope you don't mind my 2 cents.
If your drive is reading/playing original DVDs correctly..then..
Quote:

The Parameter is incorrect!

AND

Since you state:
Quote:
I tried to open the disc with DVD Shrink
This error can occur in the encoding stage of DVD Shrink. It can occur after ripping a DVD in ISO mode with DVD Decrypter v3.5.4 or lower and opening the DVD by File-->Open Disk Image (Ctrl-I).

I you haven't already, try to rip the DVD again but this time in File Mode, All Files. Open the DVD in DVD Shrink by clicking Open Files (Ctrl-O).

Process accordingly.

If all else fails, there's always DVDFab decrypter for ripping to the HDD with and then using DVD shrink to finish with.

I would say that you should consider your media choice as well, I burned with Playo DVDs (which only cost 6$ for a 50pck) and only 5 of them didn't burn (according to the computer); however, when I tried to play them, more than half of the ones that were burned wouldn't work in any DVD player, not even the computer that burned them. But if they work for you, go for it.
