Burning from DVR to DVD...

We just purchased a Sony VC20 external DVD burner, in order to burn things we have recorded on our Dish Network DVR to DVD. It works awesome, but we cannot record anything from HBO or Starz/Encore. It appears that they have a signal that doesn't allow for recording.

Does anyone out there know of way to override this signal so we can record over it?
