Hi, im using smart ripper, dvd2one and nero to back up my dvd`s. Well trying to anyway.
When burning it stops with an error at 68% or so, its the same using pinnacle instant copy. Is it anything to do with the discs? im using 2x dvd-rw discs. The panasonic sw-9571 only writes dvd-rw at 1x.

I had that same problem myself with my sony dru 500a. The problem for me was a combo of two things 1. being the media my memorex dvd's it didn't like, and 2. I had to get a firmware update for my burner. But for some reason it still won't take big writes i.e. 4.1 gig on the memorex disks but will write 1 to 3.0 gig on them. but I never have a problem with cheap dvd's i.e. ritek 1x-4x. Hope this helps

The error is "power calibration error".
What is firmware? Where do i get it from?
Will i need it, my pc is only a couple of weeks old. Panasonic SW-9571.
