Any one had any luck playing DVD-R media on the Phillips Magnavox DVD 825? So far, mine likes DVD+R/RW but no luck with the cheaper DVD-Rs. Any particular brand anyone has had some luck with?

I have the same player but can't get any DVD+R to work on it. I have tried Imation DVD+R and FujiFilm DVD+R. What have you used? Even though a lot of sites say the DVD825 supports DVD+R, I called Philips and they told me it only supported DVD-R. What brand of DVD+R media have you gotten to work? Thanks.

Wow, thats the complete opposite of what I've experienced. Mine plays MEMOREX AND VERBATIM DVD+R and +RW. What DVD-R have you had luck with? I've tried some dvd-r from rima with no luck.

Wow, the only two brands of DVD+R that I haven't tried yet (well, that is sold locally) is obviously what works. Will pick up a couple of each this weekend to test out. I haven't tried any DVD-R yet (my burner only supports DVD+R/RW) and don't know of anyone with a DVD-R burner. We have some discs at work that were burnt with a home burner (I work for UPN) so I'll snag one and find out if it is DVD-R, brand, and if it works. I'll let ya know.

great, let me know! I know you'll have NO problems with the 2 brands I just listed. I'm trying to find a DVD-r brand because they're cheaper (like 77cents compared to $2.50)

Ok, didn't get a chance to try dvd-r media yet, but I did buy some verbatim dvd+r and them still won't play. What are you burning with and with what settings? Man, if you could help me with this, I'd appreciate it. Also, what firmware version is your Philips Magnavox 825? Thanks in advance.

Well, check out this interesting tid-bit. When I burn with my HP 200DI writer (only dvd+r, r/w) using ANY dvd+r or r/w using dvdshrink and instant copy, it plays perfectly on my dvd player. IF I use dvd+r on my SONY 500AU using same software, it will not play on my player. If I use RITEK 4 speed DVD-R with my sony burner, it works on my player!
