If you have an import PS2 game and you want to be able to play it on your console but dont want to have risk using the swamp method trick that could potentially damage your system, or attempt the even riskier method of soldering the unit with mod chips that require several wires.

All you need is your S-Box USB mod key (Neokey might do the same as well)

An enhancer disc, I use the Gameshark2 Version 2 disc

A CD Burner, and a blank 700MB 80 min CD-R

I've realized this after trying Virtua Fighter 2 for PS2, a import game from Sega Ages to work. Powering on the mod key, then the PS2, and loading the enhancer to start the game without the code wouldn't work, the game wouldn't load.

But I knew something wasn't right, so I came here to this board and read that only the swap trick would allow imports games to play. But strangely I knew another game I had that was given to me from a friend in 2001 was a backup copy of Virtua Fighter 4, that was a japan import then. I was able to play that game just fine. The only difference I noticed was VF2 I recently got was on the authentic blue-bottom disc, and my VF4 was a backup CD-R copy.

So thinking I figured this out, I made a backup copy of my VF2 game, after burning it I put the CD-R copy into my PS2 after I had loaded up the game enhancer with the mod turned on, went to start the game from the enhancer, and low and behold the game loaded up.

No swap methoded was needed for this import game

So let this information be known to those who want to play imports, copy the import to a CD-R and then use the CD-R through you your usually method of booting up backup games.

My bet is that copying an import disc removes those pesky dummy files that are probably there to prevent the import to be played on your local console.
