I recently flashed the firmware I downloaded from crystal-ps2.de ( hacked R19 ), and after two days, it seems that I cannot play backups.

The chip itself is fine because I can access BM, the Playstation screen is bypassed, and originals boot in BM whereas the backups don't.

I've checked all wires and they're all soldered correctly.

I've tried using recovery mode, but everytime I press it 3 times, it goes to browser screen. It's not my media because all burnt CD/DVD don't load except original.

I've tried vacumming the PS2, cleaning it, taking memory card out, everything I can think of.

I talked to a few installers and they believe it's a corrupted firmware..?

Everything was working fine until yesterday around 1PM when I switched from a burnt copy of Call of Duty 2 to NHL06 ( original ). Then I tried playing backups and they would not boot.

I can not reflash firmware because it will not read it. All burnt CD/DVD will just keep showing me the white disc icon with the question mark on the top left corner of BM.

Any clues?

Thanks,
Yee

P.S. V14 slimline PS2 with CC 1.1

Sounds like corrupt firmware or damaged chip to me... this is similar to the fake matrix infinity chips, where if you tried to update the firmware on the fakes, it fries the chip (had one before), but I was still able to access the infinity manager after the chip is fried, the only problem is that the part of the firmware that bypasses the PS2 code check doesn't work anymore, which explains why you can boot your originals (they don't need anything to bypass the code check - unless you are playing a game from another region), but not the backups.

See if you can borrow a set of swap magic discs and use that to boot the CD you tried to use to flash the chip?

I just tried the LED check and all is well.

"LED glows for only 1 second on system startup and discs boot = All is fine :)
LED glows all the time and won't go off = Wrong installation of the bios wires
LED goes off and discs won't boot = Wrong installation of the CD/DVD controller wires"

It only goes on for a sec and turns off. But the discs don't boot!

you may want to try one of those forums as they are more geared towards people with the same chip you have and may better be able to help you.

Okay, I reflashed it by using the ARMAX method and the chip still doesn't work.

So it's not a corrupted firmware but a bad chip?

It would explain why it stopped working after a few days.
