Hi. I have a PS2 with a DMS4 Pro chip and ToxicOS on it. I would like to know the simplest way to transfer data from my PC to the hard drive in my PS2. Ethernet, USB/IDE, or cross cable.
I don't need to access the internet via my PS2, just want to dump avi.s/DivX and games from my PC to my PS2 with the minimum software/hassle.
Here's hoping...
games you can copy strait to the hard drive off of the disc with a DMS4 Pro through the ToxicOS i think. I do not yet have an HDD but my friend does so i can ask him how. I know he does it strait from the drive to the HDD.
As far as program you can either use an FTP program and FTP server on th PS2 to transfer files with a crossover cable.
Or take the HDD and stick it in the PC and use a program to transfer it that way.
Thanks Steimy.
Yeah - copying games from the disc to the PS2 HD is no problem...I would like to cut out the middle man (the need for discs) and save my laser. It's especially hard on the laser trying to get the media player to read video files off a burned CDR or DVD - so I want an easy way to transfer movies to my HD. Can't I just treat my PS2 HD as a USB mass storage device?
Also....anyone familiar with ToxicOS, how do I save DivX files? As Games or Apps or what???

Yep but you'll need a usb enclosure (or you can just hook it up to a ide cable) then all you need to do is use a program called winhiip and you can transfer all your games to the ps2 hdd, sorry don't know much about divx.
i asked my friend and he said it is quite simple.
If it is the older chucky PS2 then just make sure you have the latest ToxicOS V0.41 and your set.
Go into the setting by holding square when you turn it on
set it so it boots to ToxicOS
hook up the HDD to the PS2 through your network adapter
ToxicOS should recognize it and ask if you want to format the drive, say yes
Then you should have tabs across the top, one will say install
be on that tab when you stick in your game disc and a box will pop up asking if you want to install it to the HDD, you say yes
then in about 20 minutes the game will be on your HDD, enjoy.
Sorry Steimy - I already knew that.
I want to get data/games straight from my PC HDs to my PS2 HD...
ie: what cables/ports to use...do I have to use other software? do I have to use FTP?
from what i have heard you use a program called Winhiip (or something close to that)
You have to stick the PS2 HDD in the PC as a slave drive and then transfer them.
You install ToxicOS V0.41
then turn on the PS2 while holding the square button on the controller. This will bring you to a menu, go to the settings and change them so it loads to ToxicOS and not to the PS2 screen.
Then tuen it off, hook up the hard drive and turn it back on. It should recognize the hard drive and ask you to format it, and you do that.
Then go to ToxicOS if you are not already there and there should be a tab for games with an install tab inside. go into that tab then stick in your game. If there is no install tab just go into the game tab and then stick your game in the drive. It should ask you if you want to instll it to the hard drive. Say yes and in 20 minutes you should have it on there.
