Hello everyone...

I am looking forward to buying a new PATA hard drive, and I'm thinking about pairing my new hard drive up with a new video card. I have found a lot of great cards, but I can't choose which card is best!

ATI RADEON X1600 PRO 512 MB AGP
NVIDIA GEFORCE 7800 GS 256 MB AGP
NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800 GS 512 MB AGP

Any suggestions?

Any other good card out there that might be better than these 3 video cards? I'm completely lost! THEY ALL LOOK LIKE THEY'RE THE SAME! (Basically looking for a 512 MB AGP card, or an extremely great 256 MB AGP card...)

::::goggle goggle goggle::::

If you're going to run one of those cards, grab a new mobo and use PCI-E. Or..at least I would.

And...I think you meant SATA...but..whatever.

AND..ATI sucks, nvidia all the way.

I think that is what I want to do. I want to buy a motherboard with a PCI Express slot on it so that I can get a better video card. But which video card is best? (I'd rather the video card to be 512 MB of memory)

PS - TomMelee: Yes, I said PATA... It's the newest hard drive available, just came out. :)

You must know something I don't know...since the PATA I know about has been around forever...

If you do, please tell me.

And, I have a friend who works for a video card retailer...it's all they do. Basically his job is to get sent brand new fancy video cards (free) and play games on them, then advise his company to buy or not buy them. How's that for sexy?

Anyway, according to him, onboard memory isn't the most important aspect. The speed of the ram is significantly important (and often poor on bigger memory cards), as is the initial clock speed.

AFAIK the 7800 will blow the 6800 out of the water, out of the box, because it's significantly faster, but...I could very well be very wrong.

If I were you I'd go to www.newegg.com , browse what's there, and read the user reviews.
