I just purchased a BenQ DVD burner with lightscribe capabilities. I am wondering if any one out there can help me find this program to download and then maybe some info on how to use it and what lightscribe is exactly? I am new at all of this but would like to learn if anyone is willing to be at teacher!! (hehehe) Thank you all for your help.

Nero supports it (should have come bundled). Basically you insert special media (also would have been bundled unless it was OEM) upside down in the tray and the drives laser burns graphics onto the disc. It isn't colour and it takes ages (like 30mins per disc). Much better with a Canon inkjet printer if you ask me. Full colour, much faster and cheaper media. Although if you are in the USA, then you would have to buy an Epson printer instead. Then I guess lightscribe would be a viable option since I would never buy an Epson printer.

Thank you for the info and help. I was wondering why you said I would have to buy an Epson and not be able to use a canon being that I am in the USA? Is the Epson the only one available for me in the states? Thank you again.

Yep. Not sure the specifics, something along the lines of them having a patent on inkjet printing to CD's. This despite the fact that there were companies selling customised printers for that purpose years ago.

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fc...

You will see that the AU site lists "Prints directly onto printable surface CD and DVDs" whilst the US site does not.

Guess you could import one or at least the disc tray. Not sure exactly how cripled they are though.

Seeing it's revelant I just received my BenQ DVD LS 1655, so far Im dissappointed. I already have an Aopen DVD Burner (good price & 3 yr warranty), thought it would be nice to lightscribe. Problem is I can't....yet. Since it was overnighted and I live in a small area Walmart has only HP LS dics. Burned CD as usual with Bundled Nero flipped it, used the designer and then it wouldn't recognize the CD as being a LS --would that be a BenQ update or Nero or find better media.

As a late response to your original question Nero should work assuming Im don't have it all put together yet. If not then I will notify what worked
