I jumped on the band wagon at first. Invited people to my page. Shortly after i noticed some of my picts, edited, floating around on sigs. I'm not selfish, but asking would have been nice. I put a lot of work in to some of my tatoo designs. And i believe in individuality. Deleted all pics, deleted blog. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flatery. But flatery sucks. I'm happy with it now. I saw your page, I was going to upload some calvin and hobbes snowmen carts, but no. AD is not MYSPACE. It is a forum. A brief synopsis of the person giving advise would be nice. That is all that is really needed. You know street creds. Some members seem to feel that they own AD and be damned if anyone post out of context. But what they really need to do is sit back an think, am I helping to solve a problem, or making the problem worse? Probably should have put this under the bitchin thread. CD.

AfterDawn is hopfully not going to become a clone of mySpace.com, but instead, about gazillion people had asked us to provide a basic "user profile" feature for years, like other forums tend to have and we simply wanted our users to have something bit better, bit more flexible and bit more personal than just user info page with nick, real name and date of birth.
Sure, the profile page could become a "generic homepage" for some people, but then again, that shouldn't lessen the value of our main site and our forums? If it becomes apparent that the whole profile system is becoming a "myspcae clone", we could always simply separate it into a different domain and make it exactly that and continue running AfterDawn as its own entity. But IMO, currently it acts pretty well as a hub where you can find a bit more about your fellow forum members, exchange semi-private thoughts via user shoutboxes, etc.
And, as always, I'm happy to hear about improvement ideas, thoughts, etc about the profile pages, forums and the site in general.

Yeah, I tend to personalize things. Went a little ape sh!t. But really it should be more of a 1. personality identifier. 2. Interest. 3. specialitys. Everyone has at least one thing they are fairly proficient at. I look at profiles if available, a person can size up who he is talking to. I came to AD to learn to edit dvd and ps2. Saw that there was a lot more. It's good. I haven't seen one like before. I don't usually do the forum thing. But AD sparked my interest. I've found my niche, just have to sit back learn a little and help a little. Therapeutic you know.

The profile pages are great for me as I can enjoy chatting with other members, and gives me a 'breather' from answering repeated questions etc. It is a great way to meet new people, and just unwind.
Cheers!

I wouldn't worry about this site "going MySpace". I think the user pages are great and as dRD said, I don't think they are whatsoever affecting the quality of the main site pages, forum, news, etc.

Always use good quality blank media. Verbatim is always a good call. Don't be seduced by those 50-spindles you find in the $2.99 bin at your local car wash! :)

I Like it even tho I dont use it that much.
I think you guys should keep them if it aint that hard to maintain, as long as its not to much to handle, and dont take up to much space/time.etc.
I Like how you can trash the shoutbox message you dont like , cause I keep having people ask me dumb questions in there,

what would be nice though is if you could trash all of the messages you dont want at the same time instead of going through them one by one.
