You can not burn anything to UMD (as there is no UMD writer available)

However you can dump your UMDs to memory stick and play them.

First you will need to upgrade to 2.00 and then downgrade to 1.5, there is a guide here:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-downgrade.php

You will need UMD Emulator (download from here:http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/92 ) or Fastloader(download from here:http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/90 ) to play backups. You can use fastloader to dump the UMDs too.

For playing new firmware 2.00+ requiring ISOs check my guide:

The first thing you need to do is downgrade your psp 1.52 will not run any homebrew.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-downgrade.php

Once you have a 1.5 psp then youll be good to go

Ok where youve lost me is with the discs, i dont understand why you have discs.
All homebrew on the psp must be played via the memory stick.

If you already have the homebrew you want to load tell me what it is and i can give you detailed instructions.

UMDgen is a tool for rebuilding ISO images that you extracted to rip or modify.
UMDgen will not make a game out of nothing you still need the dump or iso of the game.

Right now the biggest available memory stick is 4gb and Sandisk have them for $US190
If you cant afford this then id suggest you get at least 2gb

if the first iso you are going to play is mlb the show then you are going to want to have a memory stick of 1gb or more.
you actually need 1gb or more anyway cause a 512 just doesnt cut it anymore. 2gb is better and 4 gb is great.
you are prolly going to need a few more loaders than eternalis mentioned and u can get more :http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/13
