Earth 2 It's a 4 disc set .each disc is duel layer and two sided.I'm attempting to back these up before the kids get to them. Disc one is done . Disc 2 and 4 "either side" I can't seem to rip.It analysis up to about 48-50% then gives me the error "Cyclic redundancy check."
What I think is happening is the reader is reading the first layer but not the second layer.I have tried running these through DVDFab and DVD decrypter, same thing happens. They have been cleaned up and look to be free of any major scratches.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be. Thanks.

Could be a bad press.

The majority of time CRC is disk related, it can on occasion be protection. DVDFab should, however, get through it. Or try the AnyDVD ripper it is supposed to be able to do hard to rip disks or scratched and AnyDVD will also tell you just what protection you are dealing with. If the disk has the normal protection then you can try cleaning it or get another original and see if that works. Or can also try it in your burner sometimes my reader won't rip but my burner will.

I tried reading it with my burner and got the same results. I am trying to get another copy as I suspect there is a problem with the press. Also I noticed on the ones I can't rip a bunch of little dots close together on both sides of the dics near the outer edge and wondered if this was the problem. They appear on each side in the same place and have the same patteren. The ones I have been able to rip don't have this. Do you still think AnyDVD is worth trying?

AnyDVD is always worth trying, in fact they just had an update today. But in this case it is more than likely as LOCOENG states a bad press. Try another disk and if you still have the same problem then try out AnyDVD, it can't hurt. Good Luck :)
