PS2 online with internet sharing connection?

OK, I'm not so good when it comes to computer networking so bear with me here.
I have a PC that is connected to the internet via a USB wireless-B adapter. I have a PS2 no more than 30 feet away that I want to get online. I just got ripped off on a linksys game adapter (shipped broken) so I want to make this simple. Could I just do this?

1: bridge the connection between the wireless adapter and the empty ethernet port in the back of the PC

2: use a long crossover cable to connect the PC to the NA on the PS2

3: share the internet connection between the PC and PS2

I bridged the two and it looks like that's working, both the USB adapter and the bridge itself are working as fast as they were before, the only that is not sending information is the ethernet cable, right now it says "Local Area Connection, Network cable Unplugged". But that's to be expected since nothing's connected to it right now.
