Can anyone point me to a softmod solution for Playstation 2?

I know modchips are better, but this kid I know wants a softmod and won't listen to me. We all know how THAT is. So any info on software mods would be cool.

Swap Magic and one other mod depending on which one he has, chunky or slimline

the chunky you get an aftermarket fliptop or have the cheap-o make his own slidecard

the slimline has an aftermarket fliptop too
a set of tools by many names (slimtool,magic switch,ghost switch)
Or once again he can just rig it himself with what is known as the Tape and tissue mod, or straw mod.

If he wants to do all the extra work, and swap disc, and rebuild games, and so on then by all means let him get Swap Magic.
But make sure he doesn't come crying back to you when he realizes he should have spent the money on a good modchip
