Im just about to throw out my yamaha 24 cd burner into the garbage .
It was given to me and I now know why.
IM running win 98se and it doesnt what to see any disk I put in it.
In windows system properties I see the cdromm
when I load a cd I cant see it.
I loaded nero and it sees the burner but it thinks theres no cd in it therefore it wont burn anything.
Is there a fix I can do
maybe open it up and blow on it LOL
I realy dont know what to do inside a cd burner or cd rom for that matter.
thumbs up or thumbs down?
thanks
Friend11y
or just go pick up another one ?

Sell your Win98 at the garage sale and upgrade to Win2000 or XP-sp1.

Can't go wrong upgrading to Win2K or WinXP m8. Mikersoft doesn't offer support for Win98(SE) anymore (updates)?.

I know XP is the best op. sys. going
and should only recomended for the newer
computers only.
If I was to upgrade to XP all my games wouldnt work. What up with that.
You have to load both win 98se and XP.
just to enjoy.
Im sticking with Win98se Its the best for me.
Thanks

You can upgrade to Win2K Pro and still play your older games. I have 2 daughters I know the feeling when my youngest one screams at me because I can't install older games on WinXP. Win98& SE is outdated and you have NO support unless you have already saved the Mikersoft updates to hard disc (I have). You would have to order them through Mikersoft. The best 2 O\S are Win2k Pro\WinXP.

I was watching tech tv the other day
and they say that xp is #1 and if your computer is older they preffered win 98se above all.
I was also read computing magazine and they said the same thing as tech tv said.
I personally dont know and trust your opinion
Shoey Ive never tryed all the OS ther are.

Why TV Tech endorsed Win98(SE) is beyond me simply because Mikersoft no longer offers support for this O\S. If you have all the updates and running a slow pc, then maybe Win98(SE) is best for you m8. I've runall all the O\S and Win2K Pro\WinXP beats them all (hands down).
