I would like to purchase a PAL playstation 2 slim, but my games are all NTSC/UC.

I intend to chip it, which will enable the PAL console to boot all region games with no problem.

The question is: Will there be ANY signal loss(as in not as clear images) by running an NTSC game on a PAL console?

I have little understanding about the regions but i know NTSC has higher frequency than PAL.

thanks in advance.

It depends if your TV supports the video system or not, most modern TVs do.

Also, you can patch the games (NTSC<->PAL) to make it display correctly on your TV.

my tv has no problems playing NTSC games on a PAL console, but i wish to know whether it would have lower display quality than using a NTSC console.

No because the video signal that gets send to the TV (from the PAL) console is still the same quality as the NTSC one... the only quality problem you'll have with images would be due to your TV, but if you have a good TV that won't be a problem :)

DMS4 Pro is a good choice
Mine will play either, and it has both force modes
(Force NTSC and Force PAL) and also a Y-Postion fix so the screen
is correctly displayed.

As long as you know your TV supports both formats you should have no problems.
As above Quality should be the same, i notice no difference in my games between the two formats.

Best quality is get a TV that has component cable hook ups, scrap the stock cord it comes with and upgrade to component cables which will give you pretty much the best picture you can get out of a PS2 with it's current options, since it has no HDMI output.

thanks for the help guys! now i can get a PAL console with no worries.

my tv is a rather cheap one with no component or s-video input =(

but i will be contented as long as it doesnt get worse than now, the NTSC setup =|
